Ciudad Juárez faces emergencies following heavy rainfall

heavy rainfall flooding Ciudad Juárez emergency rescue infrastructure damage

Heavy rainfall in Ciudad Juárez has triggered multiple emergencies, including the death of a man who fell into a catchment basin in the Villa Bonita neighborhood. Search operations by Civil Protection and firefighters lasted approximately 19 hours before the body was recovered.

In the Senderos del Sol neighborhood, municipal police rescued a 60-year-old woman and her 23-year-old daughter after a roof collapsed due to heavy rain, trapping them inside their home. Additionally, agents in the Poniente District rescued a dog swept away by strong currents.

Infrastructure damage is being addressed by the Water and Sanitation Board (JMAS), which is working to repair a landslide in the Águilas de Zaragoza neighborhood. Despite progress in installing new pipes and fill material, recent rains have hindered the completion of these repairs.
