JMAS deploys emergency crews to address flooding in Ciudad Juárez

The Municipal Water and Sanitation Board of Juárez (JMAS) has activated a permanent operation involving 30 crews, specialized machinery, and equipment to mitigate damage caused by heavy rainfall across the city. Executive Director Alberto Paredes Arroyo stated that the organization is ready to coordinate with municipal authorities to address reports regarding potable water and sewage services.

Paredes Arroyo noted that rainfall, combined with the accumulation of trash, stones, and earth, has caused drainage obstructions and sewage overflows. While JMAS is providing support through motor pumps and vactor suction equipment in areas such as El Centauro Bridge and Gardeno Residencial, the director emphasized that the preventive maintenance of dikes, catchment basins, underpasses, and bridges is the responsibility of the municipal government.

In a separate development regarding long-term infrastructure, JMAS is pursuing independent projects, including a planned 160 million peso dam/tank project in the Las Víboras area. The agency is also working with the North American Development Bank (NADBank) on various hydraulic works, such as the Norzagaray project, to secure necessary investment for drainage and sanitation infrastructure.
