Ciudad Juárez teachers and parents protest staff shortages

Teachers and parents in Ciudad Juárez are protesting the lack of permanent teaching staff in several basic education schools. The demonstrations center on the issue of temporary assignments, which protesters argue fail to guarantee educational continuity.

Roberto Anaya Moreno, the Subsecretary of Education and Sport (Seyd) for the North Zone, stated that some teachers have not reported to work because they were assigned temporary positions and are demanding permanent placements. He noted that approximately 2,800 other teachers are available to cover these roles.

During protests at the USICAMM liaison offices in Pueblito Mexicano, parents from schools such as 18 de Julio, Francisco González Bocanegra, and Francisco I. Madero demanded immediate appointments for missing staff. Cristina Angélica Nuño Gutiérrez, the USICAMM liaison in Ciudad Juárez, clarified that her office manages documentation and processes but does not directly assign teachers, as those procedures are centralized in the state capital, Chihuahua.
