Ciudad Madero authorities investigate death of woman found in apartment

Authorities in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, are investigating the death of a 54-year-old woman, identified as Imelda “P.”, who was found dead in her apartment in the Miguel Hidalgo neighborhood.

The victim, a sales promoter, was discovered naked with her face covered and showing signs of physical injury. The state Attorney General's Office has activated a specialized unit to combat femicide to lead the investigation.

The case came to light after the victim's son reported the discovery. According to his statement, he had used a dating application to contact a man and invited him to the residence, where a third individual also arrived. The son claimed that both men assaulted him and administered a substance that caused him to lose consciousness. He reported hearing his mother's screams from an adjacent room before passing out. Upon regaining consciousness, he found his mother attacked but did not immediately seek help due to fear and nervousness. Investigators are currently working to verify or rule out the son's account while collecting forensic evidence at the scene.
