Individual deaths under investigation in Mexico

Overview

Authorities in Mexico are investigating two separate incidents involving the deaths of women in different regions.

In Mexico City, officials are investigating the death of 29-year-old Colombian national Nataly Osma Pinilla, who was found dead in an Airbnb in the Tabacalera neighborhood. Following a meal at a restaurant on September 15, Pinilla and a companion reportedly experienced illness. Preliminary findings suggest the cause of death may be bronchoaspiration. The Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office and the Colombian Embassy are involved in the investigation and repatriation processes.

In Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, the state Attorney General’s Office has activated a specialized femicide unit to investigate the death of 54-year-old Imelda “P.” The victim was found in her apartment with signs of physical injury. A witness, the victim’s son, reported that after he invited two men to the residence via a dating application, he was assaulted and rendered unconscious. He claimed to have heard his mother’s screams before losing consciousness. Investigators are currently working to verify these accounts and collect forensic evidence.
