Civita di Bagnoregio and Bolsena named 2028 Italian Capitals of Contemporary Art
Civita di Bagnoregio and Bolsena have been designated as the Italian Capitals of Contemporary Art for 2028. The selection was announced by Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli through the project titled ‘Arte che viene, arte che va’ (Art that comes, art that goes).
The initiative aims to establish a permanent cultural infrastructure rather than a temporary event. The project focuses on creating works that relate to the landscape and establish a stable governance network through institutional partnerships. Approximately 35 material works are expected to be part of the legacy.
Local leaders, including the mayors of Bagnoregio and Bolsena, emphasized the importance of the project’s intangible impact. A key component involves educational outreach targeting approximately 10,000 students to foster a long-term understanding of contemporary art within the Tuscia region.
