CJNG-linked suspects detained in Colombia and South American drug bust

Authorities in Medellín, Colombia, have detained Fredy Chacón, known as ‘El Mexicano’, who is suspected of acting as a coordinator for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) within the country. Chacón is reportedly wanted by United States authorities and has a criminal history involving aggravated assault, weapons offenses, and kidnapping. During the operation, officials seized electronic devices, including computers, tablets, and hard drives, to investigate financial movements and criminal communications.

In a related crackdown on organized crime, Venezuelan national Alex David Coronil Polanco was apprehended after attempting to enter Bolivia. Polanco, who was residing in Argentina, fled toward Paraguay following an investigation into a record-breaking MDMA trafficking attempt. The operation involved a shipment of 52 kilograms of ecstasy, valued at approximately USD 2.5 million, which arrived at the port of Zárate from Antwerp, Belgium. The scheme is allegedly linked to Jaime Alonso Muñoz Maldonado, a Mexican national suspected of organizing the maneuver.
