CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka released from Tihar Jail

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been released from Tihar Jail following a week in judicial custody. Their release was ordered by a Special Executive Magistrate court in New Delhi after the two provided written undertakings and personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each.

The activists were detained on October 13 after scaling barricades at Jantar Mantar, a site that had been denotified as a designated protest venue. During the demonstration, they waved national flags and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, protesting alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls.

In their court submission, Das and Ranka pledged to maintain public peace and promised not to call for further demonstrations at Jantar Mantar until the site is legally denotified. While released, the legal inquiry into their actions continues. The Delhi Police Crime Branch has also summoned the leaders, including Ajinkya Shinde, for further questioning regarding allegations of trespass and disobedience of government orders.
