CJP threatens renewed protests over FIR arrests in BJP‑ruled Indian states

The Cockroach People's Party (CJP) warned that it will resume street protests if the government does not immediately withdraw the FIRs lodged against demonstrators and release those held in custody. Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka demanded that the written agreement pledged by the government be provided by the following day and that no new cases be filed by Delhi police, central agencies or police in BJP‑governed states.

CJP cites the arrest of hundreds of students and other protesters in Bihar, West Bengal and Assam, and alleges that many more are facing harassment or detention in Delhi and other regions. The party had earlier suspended a nationwide protest after the central government, represented by Minister JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, promised not to take punitive action against protestors in BJP‑ or ruling‑party states. CJP says it will take further steps if those assurances are not honoured.
