Romania residential fires cause death and injuries
Several residential fires have been reported across various locations in Romania, resulting in casualties and significant property damage.
In Călan, Hunedoara County, a violent fire broke out in a fourth-floor apartment. The blaze caused dense smoke that forced 12 residents to evacuate. An 89-year-old woman was found deceased inside the apartment. Authorities believe the cause was likely an electrical short circuit from a household appliance in the kitchen.
In Piatra-Olt, a 76-year-old woman was hospitalized with burns covering approximately 60% of her body after a fire destroyed an outbuilding and damaged a house roof. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by an unattended candle.
Emergency services, including SMURD and local fire departments, responded to these incidents to contain the flames and assist victims.
