Clarice Lispector film 'Rio de Clarice' set for August release

The anthology film "Rio de Clarice" will debut in Brazil on 13 August, adapting five short stories by the celebrated writer Clarice Lispector (1920‑1977). The project is directed by five Brazilian women filmmakers—Maria Luiza Aboim, Eunice Gutman, Nicole Allgranti, Taciana Oliveira and Barbara Kahane—and features a cast that includes Louise Cardoso, Lucélia Santos, Letícia Spiller and others.

Lispector, born in Ukraine and raised in Recife, Maceió and Rio de Janeiro, is renowned for her introspective prose and modernist influence on Brazilian literature. Her work explores inner consciousness, silence and everyday tensions, and continues to inspire cultural productions such as this film and related exhibitions.
