Release of Clarice Lispector film adaptation

Overview

The anthology film ‘Rio de Clarice’, which adapts five short stories by the celebrated Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector, was scheduled for an August release in Brazil. The project is directed by five Brazilian women filmmakers: Maria Luiza Aboim, Eunice Gutman, Nicole Allgranti, Taciana Oliveira, and Barbara Kahane.

Following its release, it was noted that the production features a cast and crew composed entirely of women. Nicole Allgranti, Lispector’s great-niece, served as a screenwriter and adapted the story ‘A Bela e a Fera ou A Ferida Grande Demais’, which was one of the final pieces written by Lispector before her death in 1977.
