Claro Colombia rolls out 5G service in Pasto, Nariño

Claro Colombia announced an investment of more than US$3.2 million to strengthen its telecom infrastructure nationwide, with about US$756,000 earmarked for the city of Pasto in the department of Nariño. The funding will be used to expand the fiber‑optic network and deploy 5G technology in the regional capital.

Pasto joins the company’s national expansion plan, which already covers 78 Colombian cities and municipalities. The new 5G network is expected to increase speed and capacity, benefiting commerce, tourism, industry and services; roughly 15 % of mobile traffic in Pasto already runs on 5G. Claro will also maintain 4G coverage throughout all Nariño municipalities and continue fiber‑optic service in Pasto and Ipiales. The latest CRC report shows Claro delivering the highest mobile internet speeds in Pasto, averaging 23.01 Mbps download.
