Clemente Russo announces boxing return at age 44

Olympic silver medalist Clemente Russo has announced his return to the boxing ring at age 44. The former two-time amateur world champion, who retired in 2021, will compete in a serious match rather than an exhibition.

The bout is scheduled for November 21 at the Allianz Cloud in Milan. Russo will face Momo Elmaghraby, the current Italian light heavyweight champion, in an eight-round match in the -93 kg category. To prepare for the fight, Russo noted he must lose approximately 6 kg.

Russo, who currently serves as the coach for the Italian elite national boxing team, stated that his decision is driven by a continued passion for the sport and a desire to maintain his physical fitness. He emphasized that he is returning to compete with determination rather than for financial gain or popularity.
