Cleveland Guardians' José Ramírez Out 5–7 Weeks After Hand Surgery

Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez underwent surgery on his left hand to repair a fractured hook of the hamate. The operation was performed by Dr. Thomas Graham at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania. Recovery is expected to take five to seven weeks.

Ramírez, a 33‑year‑old seven‑time All‑Star, sustained the injury in the fifth inning of the Guardians' 3‑1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. He has played a franchise‑record 1,681 games and is the only player in Cleveland history with at least 300 stolen bases and 250 home runs.

The Guardians placed outfielder Ángel Martínez on the injured list for a separate foot fracture and promoted infielder Gabriel Arias from Triple‑A to fill Ramírez’s roster spot.
