Clinica BFT in Călimănești to undergo €10 million EU‑funded overhaul

The County Council of Vâlcea announced that more than €10 million from European Union funds will be allocated to the Clinica BFT of Călimănești for a complete renovation. The works contract was signed on 8 July, with a 24‑month execution period.

The renovation will include seismic reinforcement, structural consolidation, a new roof and exterior works, installation of photovoltaic panels, and the construction of an indoor thermal‑water pool. Modern medical equipment will also be provided, updating the centre that has offered free balneotherapy for decades. The historic building, originally opened as the hotel “Vila Oltul” in 1920 and later converted into a clinic after a 1959 fire, was reacquired by the council in 2021 for this purpose.
