Clinical Diagnostics to resume cervical cancer screenings in the Netherlands

Clinical Diagnostics, a laboratory in the Netherlands that was targeted by a major cyberattack in 2022, has received authorization to resume its participation in cervical cancer screening programs.

Dutch Health Minister Sophie Hermans announced the decision in a letter to the upper house of parliament. The laboratory had been forced to suspend its testing activities following the security breach, which impacted the availability of screenings for patients. Following audits and the implementation of enhanced security measures, the facility is now deemed ready to resume operations. The Ministry of Health intends to continue monitoring the situation to ensure laboratories remain protected against future attacks.
