Bitola Hospital medical equipment 30.4 million denars modernisation staff hiring

The Clinical Hospital Bitola in North Macedonia has launched a major investment programme running from 2024 to 2026. Over 30.4 million denars of modern medical equipment are being purchased to replace devices that are more than 20 years old and no longer serviceable.

Key acquisitions include a new pathology‑department digestor (the previous unit was about 55 years old), an electric burr for orthopaedics, a phaco‑method cataract‑surgery system, an echo unit for ophthalmology, a monopolar resection set for urology, a new colonoscope and gastroscope for internal medicine, an optical‑coherence‑tomography scanner, a DEXA machine for physical‑medicine and rehabilitation, a robot and a PACS‑linked software solution. A procedure for echo‑guided prostate biopsy has also been initiated, marking the first use of this diagnostic method at the hospital. Since July 2024, 61 permanent staff members have been hired, strengthening the medical workforce.

These upgrades are expected to markedly improve diagnostic and operative capacities for patients in Bitola and the surrounding region.
