Overview

In late July 2026, North Macedonia began a series of health‑sector upgrades. The Bitola upgrade includes a new pathology‑department digestor, electric orthopaedic burr, phaco‑cataract surgery system, ophthalmic echo unit, monopolar urology resection set, colonoscope, gastroscope, optical‑coherence‑tomography scanner, DEXA machine, a surgical robot and PACS‑linked software. It also introduces echo‑guided prostate biopsy, the first use of this method at the hospital, and is expected to markedly improve diagnostic and operative services for patients in Bitola and surrounding areas.
