Poland's digital transformation drives demand for AI and cybersecurity expertise

The Polish economy is undergoing a significant digital and structural transformation driven by artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. Reports indicate that the labor market is increasingly rewarding specialized, hard-to-replace skills. While average monthly salaries for specialists and managers rose from 15,691 PLN to 16,400 PLN, there is growing divergence between sectors. High wage growth is concentrated in AI, cybersecurity, data management, and energy transformation, whereas more repetitive or junior roles face pressure from automation.

In the IT sector, specialized experts in areas like DevOps, cloud architecture, and AI can command monthly B2B contracts reaching up to 45,000 PLN. Conversely, generalist or junior developer roles are seeing slower growth. This shift emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary expertise, combining technical knowledge with business, regulatory, and soft skills.

On a broader scale, discussions at the Economic Forum in Karpacz highlighted the importance of technological sovereignty and microelectronics. Experts noted that while Poland possesses strong engineering talent, it requires long-term strategy and capital to move beyond being a subcontractor to becoming a key player in strategic technologies. Additionally, educational institutions are being urged to evolve, focusing on critical thinking and adaptability to prepare workers for a rapidly changing technological landscape.
