Cloudflare launches Basin serverless data platform
Cloudflare has launched Basin, a serverless data platform designed to simplify the collection, storage, and analysis of data for developers and enterprises. Built on Apache Iceberg and Cloudflare R2, the platform utilizes an open table standard to ensure data portability across compatible query tools without requiring vendor lock-in or manual data conversions.
Basin consists of three integrated services: Basin Pipelines, which processes events from Workers, HTTP, or Logpush using SQL; Basin Catalog, which manages metadata for Apache Iceberg tables; and Basin SQL, a distributed query engine. The platform aims to eliminate the need for dedicated data engineering teams to manage complex infrastructure, offering a model that operates on-demand without dedicated servers or data transfer fees.
In related financial news, Cloudflare reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $696.06 million, representing a 35.90 percent increase year-over-year. This exceeded analyst estimates of $665.50 million. The company also provided revenue guidance for the third quarter of 2026 between $736 million and $737 million.
