Club Brugge faces criticism after defeat to KAA Gent
Club Brugge suffered a 2-1 defeat against KAA Gent in the Battle of Flanders. Following the match, both player Nicolo Tresoldi and coach Ivan Leko expressed significant dissatisfaction with the team's performance.
Striker Nicolo Tresoldi offered self-criticism, stating, “I was not good enough. It was certainly not my best match.” He noted the difficulty in finding space against a compact opponent and acknowledged the need to improve his ability to remain impactful throughout the full ninety minutes.
Coach Ivan Leko was equally blunt, criticizing the team's tactical approach and lack of intensity. He argued that the team focused too much on slow possession rather than direct play, stating, “With tiki-taka, you do not win matches in the Belgian championship.” Leko emphasized the need for more shots, goals, and counter-attacking energy, warning that such a style would be exploited by stronger opponents in upcoming competitions.
