Club Med Lifestyle Group plans Hong Kong IPO to fund expansion
Fosun International plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO) for its subsidiary, Club Med Lifestyle Group, on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company aims to raise more than 500 million USD to fund an international expansion strategy.
Club Med intends to grow its resort network from the current 69 locations to approximately 85 by the year 2030. To achieve this growth without excessive debt, the company will utilize an ‘asset-light’ operating model. This approach focuses on management and lease agreements rather than direct real estate ownership, allowing the brand to expand into key regions including the Alps, the Mediterranean, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.
Despite the public offering, parent company Fosun intends to retain majority voting rights and control over the group. The move follows periods of stagnating revenue and shifting profitability metrics compared to other global hospitality competitors.
