Club Mitre hosts book presentations marking 50 years of Argentine military coup
In Quilmes, Argentina, the Club Mitre is hosting a presentation of two books commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 military coup. The event aims to preserve historical memory against rising denialism regarding the genocide.
The first book, ‘Solo para decirlo’, features various literary genres including poetry, stories, and testimonies from a group of writers seeking to make the coup visible through literature.
The second book, ‘Raspar el silencio. Los desaparecidos del Poli’ by Horacio Fernández, documents the lives and disappearances of four students and one teacher from the Politécnico de Berazategui who were abducted by the military dictatorship between 1977 and 1978. The presentation will include Silvina Estigarría, the sister of one of the victims.
