Clube de Petróleo and IPEME partner to prepare SMEs for Mozambique energy sector
Clube de Petróleo and the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME) have signed a cooperation agreement in Maputo to prepare Mozambican SMEs for the energy sector. The partnership aims to bridge technical knowledge gaps and help domestic companies meet the rigorous certification, quality, and management standards required by large-scale oil and gas projects.
The initiative is designed to support local content policies by ensuring national businesses can successfully compete for contracts in the supply chains of major energy developments, such as those in the Rovuma Basin. Beyond oil and gas, the program intends to benefit sectors including construction, logistics, engineering, and industrial maintenance.
Clube de Petróleo Chief Operating Officer Kate Niconte noted that while Local Content Laws provide a framework, companies must demonstrate technical capacity and readiness to secure contracts. IPEME Director-General Feliz Malate expressed hope that the partnership will deliver swift, concrete results for the benefit of the national business community.
