Romania pushes forward major infrastructure projects with EU funding

Local authorities in Hunedoara are preparing to build the new "Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara" stadium, a 10,209‑seat facility costing about €54 million, with construction expected to start in 2024 after the technical project is submitted to the National Investment Company.

In Ilfov County, extensive water and sewage networks financed by EU and national funds have been completed, providing modern services to thousands of households. Officials now urge residents to connect to the new systems to improve public health and environmental safety.

The Compania de Apă Someș, serving Cluj and Sălaj counties, has attracted €670 million in EU funds over three decades, expanding water supply and sewage coverage to 99 % and 95 % of the population respectively.

Meanwhile, the Cluj County Council and the Regional Development Agency Nord‑Vest have signed a partnership to transform the former Clujana shoe‑factory site into a regional innovation hub, featuring a FabLab, business incubator and technology‑transfer services, supported by European funds.
