CMA Terminals acquires stake in Morocco's Nador Container Terminal

CMA Terminals, a subsidiary of France's CMA CGM Group, has finalized the acquisition of a 49 per cent stake in the Nador Container Terminal. This terminal serves as the western container facility at Morocco's Nador West Med port.

Moroccan port operator Marsa Maroc retains a 51 per cent stake and 51 per cent of the voting rights. The partnership, originally signed in October 2025, tasks the joint venture with managing and developing the terminal. The facility is designed to feature a 900-metre quay, an 18-metre draught, and a 37.5-hectare container yard, with a long-term capacity to handle 1.8 million TEU per year.

Operations are expected to begin progressively starting in 2027. Located near the Strait of Gibraltar, the Nador West Med port aims to establish itself as a major Mediterranean transshipment hub. The broader port project has an estimated cost of $5.6 billion and an initial capacity of five million containers.
