CMS denounces police brutality during A Coruña protests
The youth organization Coordinadora da Mocidade Socialista (CMS) has denounced the actions of police forces during demonstrations against the presence of the Vox party in A Coruña on October 21. The organization held a press conference to present photographic evidence of injuries sustained by participants, alleging that officers used excessive force, including striking individuals in the head and firing projectiles at close range near faces.
The protests, which were organized alongside groups such as Galiza Nova and the BNG youth, resulted in several injuries and three arrests. CMS accused the Spanish Government Delegate in Galicia, Pedro Branco, and the Mayor of A Coruña, Inés Rei, of being politically responsible for the situation. The group demanded their resignations, criticizing the Mayor for issuing statements that they claim criminalize social protesters.
CMS, a communist organization that emerged from the Creba Socialista debate space, positioned itself as a central actor in the mobilization. The group stated that the violence was a result of both the presence of Vox and the subsequent police response, rather than the protesters themselves.
