CNAIR conducts traffic surveys on Romanian national roads
The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) and DRDP Timișoara are conducting origin-destination traffic surveys across Romania's national roads and the A1 motorway. These surveys aim to collect data on vehicle movements to support traffic studies, infrastructure project feasibility, and future investment planning.
During these operations, police will stop drivers at specific locations to ask about their routes and destinations. Authorities emphasize that all collected information is strictly anonymous and compliant with GDPR regulations; no vehicle registration numbers, names, or personal identifiers will be recorded.
The initial phase is scheduled for September 30, with subsequent stages planned for October 7, 21, and 28. Specific checkpoints include various locations in Arad, Caraș-Severin, Timiș, and Hunedoara counties.
