CNAIR resolves technical issues with TollRo platform
The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) has announced that technical issues affecting the TollRo platform, first identified on October 1, have been resolved. While the system is now operating within normal parameters, CNAIR warned that sporadic technical incidents may still occur.
To avoid fines, drivers are required to access the TollRo platform before traveling to register their vehicle and purchase a vignette or TollRo fee. CNAIR clarified that users will not be sanctioned if they are unable to complete payments due to technical malfunctions attributable to the platform. The system is designed to record failed attempts and distinguish between technical errors and user mistakes.
In response to the rollout, the National Union of Road Transport Operators has warned of potential protests. The union noted that the new road tax, combined with rising fuel costs, could increase transport prices by up to 25%. Transport companies expressed concern over the risk of fines reaching 2,000 lei if the system remains unstable.
Additionally, CNAIR addressed users who made payments via direct bank transfer during the initial technical disruptions. Such payments do not count as valid tolls; those individuals must request a refund by submitting proof of payment and bank details to the official CNAIR registry email.
