CNEL to host discussion on agricultural machinery safety in Italy
On October 6, the National Council for Economics and Labour (CNEL) in Rome will host a meeting to address safety concerns regarding agricultural machinery. The discussion, promoted by Federacma, focuses on the high rate of serious and fatal accidents involving tractors and the continued use of outdated equipment that lacks modern safety standards.
A central issue is the delayed implementation of mandatory machinery inspections, a requirement that has been planned for over a decade but is not yet fully operational. Stakeholders are calling for a concrete strategy that integrates prevention, equipment renewal, and stricter controls to reduce the social and economic costs of farm accidents.
The event will feature contributions from CNEL President Renato Brunetta, Federacma President Andrea Borio, and representatives from INAIL and INPS, who will provide data on injury prevention and accident costs. Roundtables will include various agricultural organizations and mechanization representatives.
