COA welcomes stable Dutch funding for asylum reception
The Central Agency for Reception (COA) has expressed satisfaction with the Dutch government's commitment to providing stable funding for asylum seeker reception in the coming years. This financial predictability is expected to facilitate better cooperation with municipalities and reduce the long-term reliance on expensive, temporary emergency housing.

However, the implementation of the EU Migration Pact in June presents challenges. The COA notes that approximately 50,000 individuals who applied for asylum prior to June may face longer stays in reception centers due to new processing priorities. Additionally, the organization highlighted that Syrian asylum seekers may face increased difficulty obtaining residence permits following the collapse of the previous regime in their home country.
