Coahuila and Magallanes advance incentives for hiring people with disabilities

The government of Coahuila announced tax incentives for companies that employ people with disabilities or senior workers. Employers can receive payroll‑tax discounts for each eligible employee, and if at least 5% of their staff belong to these groups they qualify for a 20% reduction on the remaining tax, rising to 50% when 20% of the workforce meets the criteria. More than 3,000 firms are already using the scheme, which officials say has helped thousands obtain formal jobs.

On World Youth Skills Day, Chile’s Fundación TACAL urged the expansion of training and real job opportunities for disabled youth in the Magallanes region. The organization reported 1,639 contracts under the Inclusion Labor Law covering 1,374 workers and highlighted the need for digital and socio‑emotional skills. TACAL called for coordinated action among the state, businesses and civil society to turn training into quality employment.

Both initiatives aim to reduce barriers and increase labor‑market participation for people with disabilities through fiscal incentives and targeted skill development.
