Coast Guard operations reported in Philippines and South China Sea

In the southern Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) rescued 32 residents following a coastal fire in Zamboanga City on August 14. The joint operation involved deploying rescue boats to evacuate individuals from shoreline houses as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. No injuries were reported among the rescued residents, who were placed under the care of local officials.

Separately, tensions have risen in the South China Sea near Ren'ai Jiao. The China Coast Guard (CCG) accused Philippine personnel from the grounded vessel LT-57 of aggressive behavior, claiming that two rubber boats rammed a CCG patrol boat and that officers were struck with oars and poles. The CCG stated it exercised restraint through verbal warnings and vessel maneuvers while maintaining its commitment to law enforcement operations in the Nansha Qundao region.
