Coastal Croatian towns host fishing and seafood festivals

Various coastal towns in Croatia are hosting events to celebrate and preserve local fishing traditions.

In Dramalj, the fifth annual squid fishing competition organized by the ŠRD ‘Lovrata’ sports fishing club drew approximately sixty competitors across thirty vessels. The participants caught a total of 5,232 grams of squid. The first-place team, consisting of Marino Domijan and Andrej Domijan, secured the win with a catch of 816 grams. The event concluded with a communal dinner and celebration.

Meanwhile, Ližnjan is preparing for the third Sea Bream and Squid Days, scheduled from November 6 to November 8. The program includes culinary offerings focused on sea bream and squid, a squid risotto cooking competition, and the 17th ‘Marlera’ Cup in underwater fishing. The festival also features musical performances, educational workshops for children, and various community activities aimed at promoting the local maritime heritage.
