Gastronomic festivals in Croatia

Overview

Croatia continues to host various regional gastronomic festivals focused on preserving culinary traditions and promoting tourism.

In the Istria region, the autumn truffle season is highlighted by the 17th Zigante Truffle Days in Livade, running from October 3 to November 1. The 18th International Prosciutto Fair (ISAP) is also scheduled for October 16–18 in Tinjan.

In the Međimurje region, autumn harvest celebrations continue. In Krištanovec, the Autumn Fair and Goulash Competition featured 11 teams; the first-place prize was awarded to the Krištanovec branch of the Matica umirovljenika Međimurske županije, with ŠRD ‘Zlatna udica’ taking second and Caffe bar ‘Korona’ third. In Križovec, the Društvo žena Križovec organized the Days of Bread and Gratitude, an event attended by the Mayor of Mursko Središće, Dražen Srpak, which focused on honoring the harvest through cultural programs.

Coastal activities include the fifth annual squid fishing competition in Dramalj, organized by the ŠRD ‘Lovrata’ sports fishing club. Approximately sixty competitors across thirty vessels participated, with Marino Domijan and Andrej Domijan securing first place with a catch of 816 grams. Additionally, Ližnjan is preparing for the third Sea Bream and Squid Days from November 6 to November 8, which will feature a squid risotto cooking competition and the 17th ‘Marlera’ Cup in underwater fishing.

Other regional activities include the 14th Month of Blue Fish in Crikvenica (running through October 18, 2026), the Slavonian Banovac Fair in Pakrac, and the conclusion of the 17th Paprikafest in Lug.
