Regional burn bans lifted across parts of Canada and the US
Various regional authorities in Canada and the United States are lifting seasonal burn bans as summer concludes.
In British Columbia, the BC Wildfire Service is rescinding Category 2 and 3 open fire prohibitions. In the Kamloops Fire Centre, these permissions will begin at 12 p.m. PT on October 2. The Coastal Fire Centre will lift its remaining prohibitions on September 30 at noon, though Haida Gwaii remains excluded. These changes allow for specific activities including the use of burn barrels, fireworks, and air curtain burners in designated areas.
In the United States, Georgia’s annual summer burn ban for 54 counties, including Chattooga, Floyd, Walker, and Gordon, ends on September 30. Residents may resume burning natural vegetation starting October 1, provided they follow safety distances from structures and woodlands. In Oregon, the Tillamook County Fire Defense Board will lift restrictions on burn barrels and small debris piles on October 1, though large debris burning remains postponed until significant rainfall occurs.
