Coatzacoalcos expands summer cultural program with outdoor cinema and weightlifting cup
The municipal government of Coatzacoalcos is continuing its "Coatza Vive el Verano 2026" summer initiative, which features a weekly outdoor‑cinema series called Cine Frente al Mar. The third screening will show the family film "Amigos Imaginarios" at the open‑air theater of the Casa de la Cultura, preceded by games, crafts and other recreational activities. The program also includes a travelling art exhibition titled "El Lenguaje de la Gubia" and further film screenings are scheduled for 14, 21 and 28 August 2026.
In parallel, the city will host the "Copa Coyote de Halterofilia 2026" weight‑lifting competition on 1 August 2026 at the Unidad Deportiva Satelta, Domo 1. Around 50 athletes from Coatzacoalcos and nearby towns (Minatitlán, Acayucan and Villahermosa) will compete in children, youth and adult categories for both men and women. The event is organized by the municipal Directorate of Sports (DIMUDE) with backing from Mayor Pedro Miguel Rosaldo García, and is open to the public to promote the sport.
Both initiatives are presented as part of the mayor’s effort to provide free, community‑focused cultural and sporting activities during the vacation season, enhancing public spaces and encouraging youth participation.
