Coatzacoalcos municipal development initiatives

In late July 2026 the Coatzacoalcos municipal government began a series of community‑focused actions. On July 22 the city council launched the "Coatza Vive el Verano 2026" summer arts campaign, inaugurated a graphic exhibition, and created an Interinstitutional Group for the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy to run education and health workshops.

Two days later the council released the 2026‑2029 Municipal Development Plan for public consultation and highlighted ongoing renovations of sports facilities across several neighborhoods, supported by state resources. The plan was praised for gender equity and citizen participation.

On July 24 Mayor Pedro Miguel Rosaldo García inspected the newly refurbished sports parks in the Pensiones, Tesoro and Palma Sola neighborhoods. The tour showed courts repainted, new goalposts, basketball hoops, perimeter fencing and fresh pavement installed. More than 13 fields were upgraded, over 30 parks entered a regular‑maintenance schedule, and roughly 10,000 m² of slabs were replaced, a step the mayor said would restore public confidence in municipal services.

The administration also announced that the Plan Municipal de Desarrollo 2026‑2029 is now available for public consultation, having been approved by the Veracruz State Congress and published on 3 July. The plan received a “Distintivo de Excelencia en Planeación Municipal 2026‑2029” for its methodological rigor, gender equity and participatory approach. Together, these actions illustrate a multi‑year strategy to enrich cultural life, address youth health concerns and upgrade recreational infrastructure throughout Coatzacoalcos.
