Coatzacoalcos Mayor Launches Sports Facility Revamps and Publishes New Development Plan
Mayor Pedro Miguel Rosaldo García of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, inspected the renovated sports parks in the Pensiones, Tesoro and Palma Sola neighborhoods together with state Social Development Secretary Margarita Santopietro Peralta. The tour highlighted the repainting of courts, installation of new goalposts, basketball hoops, perimeter fencing and the replacement of deteriorated pavement. Rosaldo said more than 13 sports fields have been refurbished, over 30 parks receive regular maintenance and roughly 10,000 m² of slabs have been replaced, aiming to restore public confidence in municipal services.
The municipal administration also announced that the Plan Municipal de Desarrollo 2026‑2029 is now available for public consultation. Approved by the Veracruz State Congress and published in the official gazette on 3 July, the plan sets out the city’s vision, goals and strategies for the current constitutional period. The plan earned a “Distintivo de Excelencia en Planeación Municipal 2026‑2029” from the state congress, recognizing its methodological rigor, gender equity and citizen participation components.
