COBAC reinforces security protocols following school violence in Mexico
Following recent violent incidents at a secondary school in Torreón, the Colegio de Bachilleres de Coahuila (COBAC) has reinforced security measures across its campuses to protect students and staff.
In the Carbonífera region, coordinator Diana Gabriela Sifuentes Flores stated that protocols are in place to restrict campus access to unauthorized individuals. Security measures include 'operativos mochila' (backpack checks) conducted in collaboration with the State Civil Police and canine units, performed with parental consent.
Beyond physical surveillance, the institution is focusing on mental health and violence prevention. COBAC is working with psychologists and organizations such as Centro LIBRE para las Mujeres, CAIF, and DIF to provide professional support, detect risk factors, and foster safer educational environments. These efforts aim to address the root causes of school violence, which often stem from bullying, social conflicts, and interpersonal disputes.
