Cochabamba medical clinic kidnapping leaves patient wounded
Three armed men kidnapped a 34-year-old patient from a medical clinic in Cochabamba on Tuesday evening. Security footage captured the moment the assailants, who reportedly had foreign accents, entered the facility by posing as family members. The victim, who was hospitalized for a urinary tract infection, attempted to resist but was beaten and dragged from the clinic at gunpoint.
Following the abduction, the victim was discovered two hours later in the Chiquicollo area with a gunshot wound and multiple injuries. He was rushed to a medical center for emergency surgery. Police investigations suggest the incident may have been a targeted settlement of accounts, noting that the victim has prior criminal records for aggravated robbery and drug trafficking.
The Bolivian Police have activated ‘Plan Z,’ deploying intelligence and patrol units to locate the suspects and the vehicle used in the crime. The incident has raised significant public concern regarding security within medical institutions.
