Cockroach Janta Party leads school reform campaign amid regional unrest
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is leading a nationwide campaign titled ‘School Thik Karo’ to highlight the poor condition of government schools in India. The movement has gained momentum among students in states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, with protesters demanding better infrastructure, teacher availability, and basic facilities.
In West Bengal, the campaign has faced violent opposition. CJP volunteer Abdul Hafeez’s father, Sekh Mohammad Mafik, died following an alleged assault by individuals linked to the BJP in Bankura district. The attack reportedly occurred after Hafeez was documenting dilapidated school conditions. CJP leaders have issued a 10-day deadline to the West Bengal government to arrest those responsible and have called for a court-monitored investigation into local police conduct.
In Delhi, the CJP is demanding the quashing of FIRs registered against students who participated in a July 20 Parliament march. While the party accuses the government of using delay tactics, Delhi Police have defended their use of force during the protest, describing it as “graded” and proportionate to manage the crowd.
In Rajasthan, the state government has restricted outsiders from entering school campuses without permission following CJP’s announcement of school inspections. Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has called on politicians to experience the hardships of rural students, such as long walking distances to reach educational facilities.
