Cockroach Janta Party members face legal actions in India
Members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) are facing various legal challenges in India. In Uttar Pradesh, activist Gaurav Bharti has approached the Allahabad High Court to quash a criminal case filed against him. The case stems from a video Bharti recorded as part of the ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, which highlighted the dilapidated condition of a government primary school in Farrukhabad. While police booked Bharti following a teacher's complaint regarding damage to the institution's image, his legal team argues the allegations do not meet the statutory requirements for public mischief or intentional insult.
In Delhi, a plea has been filed at the Patiala House Courts seeking the registration of an FIR against CJP protester Nishu Azad and her father. The complaint alleges that Azad, a minor, posted derogatory social media content that insulted Hindu deities and incited communal hatred. The legal action seeks to address alleged violations of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) regarding the promotion of enmity and outraging religious feelings.
