Cocoa and coffee prices set for 2026-2027 season in West Africa

West African cocoa and coffee producers are facing divergent price settings for the 2026-2027 season. In Côte d’Ivoire, Minister of Agriculture Bruno Nabagné Koné announced that the farm-gate price for cocoa will be set at 1,200 FCFA per kilogram, while coffee will be priced at 1,300 FCFA per kilogram. This cocoa price remains identical to the intermediate campaign of 2026 but is significantly lower than the 2,800 FCFA per kilogram seen during the 2025-2026 main campaign, reflecting a correction in global market prices.

In Cameroon, cocoa prices have reached between 2,750 and 2,900 FCFA per kilogram as the 2026-27 season begins. This follows a period where the country saw a 63% slump in cocoa export revenue, dropping from 1.0746 trillion FCFA to 400.9 billion FCFA due to lower volumes and falling global prices. Cameroon is also entering the new season with significantly higher unsold inventories, totaling over 40,000 tons, compared to approximately 13,946 tons in the previous year.
