Codelco renovates community plaza in Calama, Chile

Codelco’s Ministro Hales division completed a major upgrade of a public space in the Kamac Mayu neighbourhood of Calama. The project remodelled the plaza, added green areas and built a new sports court and community centre, benefiting hundreds of local families. Fernando Promis Baeza, manager of Community Affairs and Sustainability for Codelco’s northern operations, highlighted the long‑term partnership with the community. Vesna Matus Mella, president of the local Junta de Vecinos Río Bravo, praised the new facilities for children, seniors and adult‑education courses. Ricardo de la Jara Roa, director of Risks and Control for Ministro Hales, affirmed the division’s commitment to territorial development and collaborative projects with municipal authorities.
