Overview
In late June 2026, the municipal council of Vitoria‑Gasteiz, Spain, began processing applications to convert office buildings and an agricultural pavilion into residential units under a new General Urban Plan. Mayor Maider Etxebarria highlighted the plan’s goal of delivering about 22,000 homes and expanding urban infrastructure, including tram network extensions, cultural centre completion, police station upgrades, and industry and tourism improvements.
A month later, in late July 2026, Chilean mining company Codelco’s Ministro Hales division finished a major renovation of a public plaza in Calama’s Kamac Mayu neighbourhood. The upgrade added green areas, a sports court and a community centre, providing new facilities for children, seniors and adult‑education courses and reinforcing the company’s partnership with local residents and municipal authorities.
