Mexican political parties organize leadership for 2027 elections
Political parties in Mexico are actively restructuring and defining leadership roles in preparation for the 2027 elections. The National Action Party (PAN) has appointed regional coordinators in Chihuahua, Querétaro, Tlaxcala, Baja California Sur, and Michoacán, as well as in three Mexico City boroughs. This strategy, led by national leader Jorge Romero Herrera, aims to organize party members and strengthen territorial presence.
In Querétaro, the PAN has named Mayor Felipe Fernando Macías as the state coordinator. Meanwhile, political shifts are occurring in the local legislature, where deputy Gina Guzmán has left the Green Party to join Morena, increasing that party's presence in the Querétaro Congress. In Guasave, Sinaloa, Cecilia Rojo Ahumada has formally registered as an aspirant for the Morena municipal coordination.
Internal tensions have also emerged within the PAN in Chihuahua, where protesters demonstrated against the potential imposition of a mayoral candidate, demanding greater democratic participation and transparency in the selection process.
