Morena intensifies youth engagement and grassroots outreach

Overview

Throughout mid-2026, Morena has intensified its focus on youth engagement, territorial organization, and grassroots outreach to consolidate the ‘Fourth Transformation’ under President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum. Earlier in the year, the party emphasized youth leadership through initiatives like the University Parliamentary Model and regional sessions in Quintana Roo and Morelia. As the year progressed, leadership conducted tours in Nuevo León, Puebla, Baja California, and Sinaloa to strengthen local structures.

In August, efforts to defend national sovereignty and political unity intensified through various regional assemblies. In Sonora, Javier Lamarque held a digital assembly for approximately 10,000 people, while Lorenia Valles met with the Labor Party to advocate for political unity. In Baja California, Ismael Burgueño and Julieta Ramírez held community meetings in San Quintín and the Mexicali Valley. Other regional efforts included Tatiana Clouthier in Nuevo León and Abelina López Rodríguez in Guerrero, who emphasized the continuity of the national project.

By early September, internal political shifts and large-scale mobilizations continued. In Guerrero, Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio held an assembly in Chilpancingo, urging members to avoid infighting and prioritize national sovereignty against the ‘ultra-right.’ Simultaneously, former Chilapa mayor José Ojeda Jiménez withdrew his aspiration for state coordination, pledging his support to Esthela Damián Peralta to promote unity and agendas for indigenous and Afro-Mexican populations. In Quintana Roo, a mobilization of over 10,000 people took place in Chetumal. Led by Gino Segura, the march expressed support for President Sheinbaum and Governor Mara Lezama, emphasizing that political unity is essential to avoid losing political ground.
