CODHEM observes security inspections at Santiaguito prison

The Human Rights Commission of the State of Mexico (CODHEM) acted as an observer during security inspection operations at the Santiaguito Penitentiary and Social Reinsertion Center in Almoloya de Juárez. The inspections took place from September 30 to October 2.

Conducted by the penitentiary tactical group in collaboration with the National Guard, the operations aimed to enhance security and prevention within the facility. CODHEM President Víctor Leopoldo Delgado Pérez personally observed the activities to ensure the dignity and integrity of incarcerated individuals were respected in accordance with constitutional mandates.

Special attention was given to female areas, specifically focusing on the protection of women and their children residing within the center. The oversight was supported by the Specialized Visiting Office for the Attention of Persons Deprived of Liberty to ensure all security measures adhered to legal standards and human rights protections.
